Fred Shaw Delivers Exceptional HTM03 AHUs to Montagu Hospital Mexborough, for Enhanced Endoscopy Suite

Working with the Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in Mexborough, United Kingdom – FredShaw, a leading name in air handling unit (AHU) design and manufacturing, is proud to announce the successful completion of a contract to supply Air Handling Units for the state-of-the-art Endoscopy Suite at Montagu Hospital. Montagu Hospital sought a reliable partner to provide AHUs that met the stringent requirements of HTM03 (Health Technical Memorandum 03) for their Endoscopy Suite. After careful consideration, Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals (DBTH) selected Fred Shaw due to their impressive track record in designing and manufacturing HTM03-compliant AHUs.

The project comprised three distinct AHUs, tailored to different needs within the Endoscopy Suite. One large AHU was designated for the general areas, while two smaller cabinet-type AHUs were destined for the treatment areas. All units were meticulously designed and crafted to ensure compliance with HTM03 standards.

The AHU for the general areas was specially designed to sit outdoors and came equipped with a weatherproof enclosure. This enclosure not only housed the AHU but also accommodated essential services such as pipes, valves, and electrical components. This innovative design provides a secure and weather-resistant space for maintenance work on the AHU, ensuring its longevity and efficiency.

Due to the considerable size of the unit and its enclosure, as well as the logistical challenges of transporting and positioning it, Fred Shaw Engineers adopted a unique approach. They constructed the enclosure base on-site, then carefully lifted the AHU in sections onto the base. Once in position, they securely bolted and sealed the sections together, completing the enclosure build around the AHU in situ. This method, tried and tested by Fred Shaw, yielded impressive results and demonstrated their commitment to finding effective solutions.

The two AHUs designated for the treatment areas were of the “cabinet type” variety. This choice is increasingly popular in situations where space is at a premium. These compact yet HTM03-compliant units provide easy access for maintenance and cleaning. Resembling large double-door filing cabinets or office cabinets, they blend seamlessly into the healthcare environment while maintaining the highest standards of compliance and performance.
